Community Policing Unit
The community policing unit (CPU), also referred to as a community outreach vehicle. A CPU can either be a trailer or vehicle that is used to create trust and reliance between an organization (like the local police department) and the public. The CPU allows any safety professional to share their crime prevention and security information directly with the community. Commonly used at schools, community celebrations, county fairs and other local events. Ideally, CPUs are for police departments, hospitals, insurance companies, home security companies.
The goal is to use the vehicle as a mobile classroom to share valuable and sometimes life-saving information with the community. For example, a CPU can be used for medication safety, fingerprint cards, car seat safety, recall checks, safe driving simulations, registration for emergency, severe weather alerts, or product demonstrations (like security systems). Visitors will learn safety tips and how to apply it to their everyday lives.
